Daily Reads - I make time for each and every one...

Almost every day - unless I'm pressed for time..
Hit these occasionally - but at least once a week...

Do you ever wonder why we rush through so many things? Why we feel the need to push ourselves to complete chores, other's expectations or such? I admire people who can just say "hell with it" and do what they want when they want. I myself place too many expectations on myself for such mundane things as laundry and cleaning and doing what others need.
The reason for this thought is two-fold. One because I came home from work at about 1:30 pm today (Fridays are always early dismissal days for us, and I just escaped early from the phone calls and paperwork). So, I had some oj, turned on the TV and took a nap. It felt great and now I have the energy to complete my "chores" which include the dreaded laundry and sheet changing. Now, I know at some point the need to do laundry is there (faster for my husband than me since I have more clothes), but there are times when I just don't want to do it. And yes, Keith does help, but since I am home and he is working this evening, I thought I would do it. And nothing can beat fresh sheets, but its just another time thing that also means more laundry.

I guess that while I complain, I am also one of those people who like to get chores done so they can "play" longer. I want to enjoy the whole day with my hubby tomorrow---a craft show, a little shopping for new panties, dinner out....and just driving along in the jeep. I want to be able to hit the pool this weekend or sit on my porch and read all day Sunday if I want, so I know the need to complete my "chores" tonight. But I also know how damn good it felt to take a nap.

So my quick advice to you all tonight is....take a nap, ignore the dust, laundry and such....and just be you.

Amanda says...."Alan Rickman is playing Snape in the Harry Potter movie." Now how did they know that I pictured him from day one in that role. I can see his face every time I read those books. Now I HAVE to see the movie, although I am not sure Keith will be convinced. Good thing my friend Caryn loves the books and has kids to take. We can all go.

It is the first full day of school for the kids here, and so far, so good. I have solved a number problem in a classroom without even trying (the kid wanted to switch electives which made it easier). I had my first class of the day 3rd period and now I teach last. Time went fast this am, but I had the more talkative of the group, although I do believe that some of the juniors in the afternoon group will be willing to talk. I am not passing out books yet for two reasons. I have "stuff" I want to cover without them, and I don't have enough yet.

Dinner was very good last night. My mom and her husband came for dinner so I could show-off that I can cook!!! I made Creamy Chicken Tarragon, salad, herbed potatoes, steamed carrots with a bit of oj and butter on, and lemon squares for dessert. Actually, Keith made the dessert before I got home from work. My mom and Bill head back to CT on Sunday but will be moving on October 1st. They have a lot to finish up, and I think it will be quicker than we realize because we both are having busy months. I am planning a yard sale for next weekend, and then it will just fly by as the fall and school demands more of me. Right now, we are all just getting used to being here.

Gotta go...more later.

Or I could use the shortened version of my name and just decide whic one suits me for the day....

Your name of Chris gives you a very happy-go-lucky, spontaneous nature. You see the humorous side of many situations and can laugh at yourself as well as at others. This name gives you a musical, artistic nature and you would do well in any occupation in the entertainment field. You have many friends because of your generous, happy nature, but if crossed you have a quick temper, although your annoyance does not last too long. You do enjoy an argument and will at times say things just to get others going and then you sit back and enjoy the debate. You lack system and order and find it very difficult to budget and save money. This name creates a nature that can be the life of the party, but many times you can become involved in emotional situations against your better judgment. Your compassionate nature causes you to be too generous and you often give more than you can afford to. You are too fond of sugars and starches, thus you could have a weakness in your liver, kidneys, or skin, creating pimples or eczema. While this name gives you a wonderful personality, and attracts much love and friendship, it is far too emotional and scattering an influence and will not allow the material accumulation nor personal happiness you should have.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick temper, enjoy an arguement....sounds like me. Too generous, compassionate and emotional....for sure. I also have a weakness for sugars and starches and have had kidney stones and bladder infections.
On the other hand, I do seek travel and can organize work of others (as listed in Christine below), and the impatience is a sure thing. However, sales is not something I would see myself in, so there we are. Maybe a combo of both, but I do see more in the Chris description.

Courtesy of bobthecorgi.blogspot.com, I found this cool site where my name was taken and analyzed. Very cool. I will link it as soon as I get home. (Still not sure how to do it with the imac here at school!!)

As Christine you seek change, travel, new opportunities, and new challenges. Your active, restless nature demands action and you dislike system and monotony. As you are versatile and capable, you could do any job well, although you would not like to do menial tasks. Having considerable vision, you could be adept at formulating new, more effective ways of doing things. You could organize the work of others, though in your impatience to see the job done efficiently, you would likely step right in and do it yourself. You could work well in sales and promotion, and would not be afraid to risk a gamble as the name gives you much self-confidence. You do not find contentment in the routine tasks and responsibilities that are associated with home and family or with administrative detail in the business world, so you have to guard against frustration and even moods of depression over your personal responsibilities. The restlessness this name creates could find an outlet in caustic, irritable expression. Also, the intensity of your nature could result in tension in the solar plexus causing stomach trouble and, because you take your responsibilities seriously you could experience much worry.

Sometimes you have to wonder why some people drift out of your life. Was it something I did or didn't do? Was it some tale told about me that was not true? Or was the other person too afraid of being honest, and just left even after you tried to see what was wrong? I guess that deep in my heart, I already know because I read people.....sometimes too much. I just seem to know. Not always, but enough of the time. Maybe its why I went into counseling.
Good night for now.

I can't believe its been so long since I've written here but its has been busy. I finally got the schedule and began writing all the cards for tomorrow. I only have about 30 of one class left right now. Of course, when I started yesterday morning, I had the wrong copy of the schedule....thank goodness I noticed it right away.

I have not been feeling so great. I think I might be fighting off a bladder infection/UTI. So the water has been going in even more than usual, and I am feeling better today. Of course, it could be the stress of the new school year has aggrevated it as well.

But the fun news is.....I have my new computer all ready and I can use it in my office. Of course, the second phone line is not in, and we need to change a light switch to an outlet for convenience sake, but here I am, using it right now. It is a mac, but it also has virtual pc which means I can access Windows 98. That will be helpful for using the internet and blogger since macs are missing the key to "link" a site to your blog. I also know I will use it when I am writing or attaching in email.

Not too much else to say right now. I need to bookmark a few favorite sites, so I will be back later.
