Daily Reads - I make time for each and every one...

Almost every day - unless I'm pressed for time..
Hit these occasionally - but at least once a week...

I found a new place to "haunt" today. There is a used bookstore about 25 mintues from home and the man who owns it is very helpful and easy to talk to about books. I managed to find a cherry ames that I didn't have (for a lot less than ebay sells them....), and a few other finds I have been looking for. One of them was a book of saint stories that I had in my youth, and have wanted to find again. Other books were by JD Robb, Sandra Brown and Jill Picoult ( a new author I have been wanting to read). I am very happy to have found this place, and I vow to clean off my bookshelves to see if I can get any credit from the store on what I have but don't want.

Why is it that dealing with your mother is somewhat like dealing with a teenager? I called my mom after not speaking to her for about 5 days. She and Bill had a big problem with the buyer of the home which is resolved although not to their advantage. It moves the moving date back to October 1 instead of August 20. But if they didn't agree to closing then, they would lose the buyer, and it took longer than they anticipated (it was without a realtor if that makes any difference). Anyway, last week, Bill was coming in on Sunday to take down cabinets in the kitchen, and Keith was able to help since he was on midnight. Well, due to the complications, he is coming this week instead (Sun-Tues) and Keith is working all daylight. He could help in the evening, but I know that after our concert Sunday, he is going to be wiped out Monday evening, so I told her that. Well, almost immediately after that, she said, "I have to get going. Talk to you later. Bye." Which is unlike her. (and very bitchy sounding I may add). So, I am guessing that she is a bit upset that I don't want Keith to go out to tear out cabinets after working all day Sunday---going to the concert from 3-who knows when we will get home....its an hour drive home, sleeping only about 4-5 hours, and getting to work at 6 am. I said he could only help a few hours because he needs to get some rest Monday night, and I believe it pissed her off. So, I ranted for a while to Keith, and then decided I was not to feel guilty. And now I vented here so.....its over.

I do have a few links for you to check out but I need to do a few more things. Tomorrow will be soon enough. Good night.

I would have sworn that I blogged either Wed or Thurs but I see that I did not. Must be one of those bizarre dreams I have had recently. Last nights (early am) was very weird and still it on my mind. It had to do with my family and "escaping" from somewhere. Still trying to understand.

Life has been quiet. We spent Wednesday evening at home relaxing and spending time together. Yesterday I went to the pool for a while and then we went to Fort Armstrong days which is a festival of crafts and food. J and E went with us, and I managed to get a few small gifts for a friend. We also made our plans
for Sunday when we go to the Brooks and Dunn/Toby Keith/Momtgomery Gentry concert. I am a huge Toby fan.....we are leaving early to get there and will tailgate with beer, pop, and sandwiches before we see the concert. It should be fun but we all need to get up early on Monday so I see naps in our future.

I have a few links for you to check out but I need to get some work done here at school so ....later.

Random disjointed thoughts of the day (or night since it is almost bedtime).

**I am trying to complete my Cherry Ames collection and I need to stay off of ebay.

**I met a very cool 15 year old today who we accepted as a transfer to the high school. Although I am usually in favor of giving all kids a chance, I went in today with a skeptical mind since we have had some problems with transfers into 10th and 11th grade. However, this kid won me over when he said, "I want to do better and I think smaller classes will help, and NO, I don't know anyone at St. Joe's." This is rare since usually they KNOW someone. This one is coming in with no connections---kind of brave for a teenager if you ask me.

***Be careful when you chop onions that you don't get any onion juice under your rings. It can leave a burn on your finger. (Yes, I am healing. It is not a big burn, but I can't wear my diamond until it heals because of the irritation.)

**Heat is back on its way to PA. Air is on, and I am planning for a day at the pool after a meeting with kids for our leadership workshop next week.

**Bills are paid and we have money to spare.

Hugs to my friends out there in blog world. You are in my thoughts today.

It is Sunday morning, and I am home. I have been here since Thursday evening, but didn't find the time to blog. I needed to recover from our trip and then began the festivities. This is the weekend of my friends annual Crabfest. We went to the Pirate game on Friday night, had the big party (80 people) last night, and tonight is leftover beer and food night for the small group of friends who began it all. I didn't get to bed until 3 am, so it takes a while to wake up in the AM.

Our vacation was BUSY. We did something everyday although our biggest trips were to Salem, MA and New York city. Thursday was spent at Foxwoods Casino and the Peqout museum on the reservation. Friday, Keith and I went used bookstore hopping in the AM, and then went to see the New Britain Rockcats play baseball. The farm team from Minnesota did great and we had a blast. Saturday we headed to Salem and did see the Salem Witch Museum, the Salem Wax Museum, and the Salem Witch Village. We also took a trolley tour around Salem and heard alot of history about the area. What amazed me the most is that the witch trials (which Salem is known for best) only lasted for 9 months and yet there were so many other historical parts to Salem. It was a great day, and one that filled a dream of mine---to visit there.

Sunday and Monday were shopping and beach days, and then we headed to NYC Monday night. We did a tour there too.....on a boat around Manhatten to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and other sites. We got to Rockefeller center, Times Square and St. Patrick Cathedral. It was HOT---95 degrees in the city is hot. We were just dripping and went into some stores just to feel some air conditioning. We finished the trip with dinner in Little Italy with my brother Greg and his wife Reggie. Wednesday was really the sit and relax day that Keith needed before the drive home. He had to work Thursday night at 10 pm, so he needed to regroup.

And so we are home. Now if I could just motivate myself to get moving on the list of "to do"s that I have. Maybe after the party weekend. We'll see.
